Quran: The Prophets 21:25 We sent all messengers before you with this revelation: ‘There is no deity save Me, so worship Me alone
In this verse of Quran, God is reminding Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him as as well the present readers and learners of Quran that He had sent same knowledge about Himself (God) to all Messengers / Prophets who came before Prophet Muhammad. The knowledge / teaching was: There is only One God who is their Creator and they should all worship Him alone.
As we all know that God created this universe in 6 stages (reference from Bible, Torah, Quran and many divine books) , our planet earth and humans was created within those 6 stages of time. Prior to creation of humans, He created life support system for the living things to survive, for example Sun, moon, stars, air, water, vegetation, animals, and so on.
He also sent His messengers to every part of the world to guide human beings. According religious traditions, there were more than 120,000.00 messengers /Prophets were sent to humankind. They taught them the Oneness of God, to discover God as their only Creator and the Creator of all things, people and objects, to pray/worship God alone, to do good deeds to all people, to be accountable and responsible for their actions and to recognize the reality that they will meet their Creator God after their death and resurrection. The same message was sent to Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and the rest of humanity. This message was global message taught by all the Prophets to their contemporaries and therefore Allah in Quran sends this reminder over and over through various examples. Sometimes this message is sent directly and sometimes through scientific signs in nature, historical experiences, and future events that will be happening to humans till they reach their final destination (The day of Judgement).
The Oneness of God (Tawheed) is a single basic concept that we, the humankind was taught to us and it was ingrained into our mind or being. This was taught to us when our souls were presented to God Almighty:
This reality has been described in the Quran as ‘clear revelations in the hearts of those who have been given knowledge.’ This means that the Divine Reality, explained by the Quran on a conscious plane, pre-exists in man at the level of the subconscious. The message of the Quran is not, therefore, something which is alien to man. It is in fact a verbal expression of that same Divine Reality which is in consonance with man’s own nature and with which he is already familiar. The Quran explains this by saying that those born in later times were all initially born at the time of the creation of Adam and, at that time, God had directly addressed all these human souls.
This event is thus alluded to in the Quran: ‘[Prophet], when your Lord brought forth the offspring from the loins of the Children of Adam and made them bear witness about themselves, He said, ‘Am I not your Lord?’ and they replied, ‘Yes, we bear witness that You are.’ So you cannot say on the Day of Resurrection, ‘We were not aware of this’ (7:172).
The concept of Oneness of God is a single basic factor that combines people of all types to sisterhood and brotherhood as we share the same concept of God. We are all created by One God who is loving, kind, compassionate Being. We are one single family bound by this concept of God and share all the bountiful things He has sent us in our lifetime to enjoy.
All our activities and actions are derived from this common concept, we all live, breath, eat, walk, and go through our days and nights from this commonality. When we think of this common bond, we are all together, share the basic needs and goals and have all types of positive things in our lives.
The concept of Oneness Of God is so basic and so simple that we all must need to re-discover it. We are living in the complexities of our lives and this concept gets distorted and confused as we get conditioned by the environment. We need to identify negative traits for example hate, biases, prejudices, and constantly remove our minds from these negative feelings. We need to become the seeker of Truth and use our pondering, reflecting and deep thinking skills to re-discover ourselves and Oneness of God from the things and creations around us. The result of conscious discovery of God in essence is the True Form of Worship of God, for the most deserving of our Creator who is source of good, compassion, love, mercy and justice.
